Scientific practice
Methods & ethics.
Credibility begins with clarity about what evidence can—and cannot—show.
Our reporting commitments
- Separate observation from interpretation. Record what was measured or seen before proposing why it happened.
- Disclose study design. State sample size, controls, measurement methods, limitations, and changes to protocol.
- Preserve uncertainty. Do not present exploratory observations as established causal findings.
- Report unexpected outcomes. Errors, null results, and contradictory evidence are part of the record.
- Correct the archive. Material corrections will be clearly identified rather than silently rewritten.
- Protect privacy. Public records and photographs will be reviewed to remove identifying metadata and sensitive information.
- Prioritize safety and compliance. Research activities are contingent on safe facilities and applicable law.
Open data: a developing commitment
We intend to share study protocols, appropriately reviewed measurements, and analysis materials when available. Public release will be balanced with privacy, security, and legal considerations. No downloadable datasets are currently published.
Independence and limitations
Open Cannabis Research is an independent initiative, not a university, accredited laboratory, medical authority, or peer-reviewed journal. Its initial studies are exploratory and should not be used as medical, legal, or cultivation guarantees.
